K-12 Private Schools

Private schools, also known as independent schools, are not administered by local, state or national governments; thus, they retain the right to select their students and are funded in whole or in part by charging their students tuition, rather than relying on public (government) funding.

For information about Hawaiʻi’s private schools, the Hawaiʻi Association of Independent Schools (HAIS) may be able to help you. The site includes resources on schools, accreditation, licensing, open houses, and more. HAIS is not affiliated with the Hawaiʻi Department of Education.
